What is Technical Writing?
Technical writing is everywhere. It is in the instruction manual of every product purchased by consumers in magazines, web sites, in manuals and in nearly every instruction page ever comprised. Today, technical writing includes every style of step-by-step written technical communication documentation. Technical writing work often requires collaboration with clients, making sure each client is satisfied the writer understands the product or message and will convey the exact message the client wants to deliver.
What Does a Technical Writer Do?
A technical writer is develops written content for all communication documentation media. A tech writer goes far beyond writing out step-by-step instructions or providing written descriptions of products or messages. The tech writer quickly analyses every aspect of a product or message along with the targeted audience so the message gains its highest and clearest exposure. Then, the writer takes that information and writes a precise message and uses the proper medium to reach a specific targeted audience.
Who is a good Technical Writer?
First, a tech writer must be well-written. He or she must be well-versed in the languages of all persons associated with the product or message. This includes proper sentence structure and punctuation. The writer is able to show, in detail, every aspect of a product or message. The finished writing must communicate the logical thinking patterns of both senders and the target audience.
